Hatfield Town Mayor, Councillor Mick Wise, was among the many community leaders who attended the first-ever Hatfield Health Day on July 11. The vibrant event welcomed over 500 visitors for a day dedicated to wellbeing and healthy living.
Held at Hatfield Leisure Centre, the event was a joint initiative between the Hatfield Primary Care Network (PCN) and the leisure centre. Attendees had the chance to try out a range of free activities including zumba, judo, chair yoga, pickleball, and walking squash. Informative sessions on nutrition, mindfulness, and how to make the most of the NHS app were also on offer.
More than 28 local charities and organisations, such as the Hertfordshire Health Walks Team and Herts Disability Sports Foundation, were present to connect people with local health resources and support.
Speaking about the event, Cllr Wise said: “Staying active has always been important to me and events like this show just how many ways there are for people of all ages to look after their health and stay connected to their community.”
Cllr Mick Wise was joined by Welwyn Hatfield Mayor Lynn Chesterman and Welwyn Hatfield MP Andrew Lewin in showing support for the initiative, which is already being hailed as a strong step forward in promoting community health and wellbeing.
