On Sunday 9th November 2025, the people of Hatfield came together for Hatfield Town Council’s annual Remembrance Day parade, a moving tribute to all who served and sacrificed in times of conflict. Beginning at the front of Hatfield House, the parade brought together army and air force cadets, scouts, guides, and members of the Royal British Legion, who marched in unison to Memorial Gardens on Great North Road. There, a traditional memorial service was led by Father Darren Collins, Team Rector of Bishops Hatfield, drawing families, veterans, and residents from across the town in a shared moment of reflection and remembrance.

As part of the ceremony, wreaths were laid by Lady Salisbury, Mayor of Hatfield Mick Wise, Deputy Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Michael Siewniak, and Deputy Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Jane Quinton, alongside Sharon Harrison-Barker, representing the University of Hertfordshire. Representatives from Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Constabulary, and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance, signifying the community’s united respect for those who gave their lives in service to their country.

Two days later, on Tuesday 11th November, a more intimate Armistice Day service took place at the Hatfield War Graves in Hatfield Park. This solemn gathering was attended by the Mayor of Hatfield Councillor Mick Wise, members of the Royal British Legion, member of the public, and representatives of Hatfield Town Council.

Both ceremonies reflected Hatfield’s enduring commitment to honouring the fallen. With civic leaders, community groups, and residents coming together across both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, the events stood as powerful reminders of the town’s respect for its history and its dedication to preserving the memory of those who gave everything for peace and freedom.
