A service was held at Campus West in Welwyn Garden City to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27th, led by the Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Cllr Frank Marsh.
Hatfield Town Councillors, including Larry Crofton, Gareth Aiken, Cathy Watson, Tim Rowse, Peter Costello, and Margaret Eames-Petersen, were in attendance, alongside Town Council officers.

Readings were given by Anthony Chapman DL, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire; Erin Crofton, Vice-Chair of Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council; Wendy Lidgate of the Welwyn Hatfield Interfaith Group; and Reynold Rosenberg and Tony Wilder from the Welwyn Garden City Hebrew Congregation.
The service served as a poignant reminder of the need to stand against hatred and to honour the memories of those who suffered in past atrocities. This year, the event commemorated the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia, reflecting on the enduring lessons of history.
