HTC Hosts Another Successful Bingo Night

Mar 28, 2023 | Recent News | 0 comments

Thursday 23rd March saw us hold another Bingo Night event at Roe Hill Hall, raising money for the Mayor’s chosen local charities. The Town Mayor had personally selected Herts Young Homeless and the Jamie McVeigh Foundation as his nominated charity organisations for his tenure and we’re so proud to reveal that we have matched the tally from last years’ bingo night – raising a wonderful £600 to be shared between these two great causes.

The Mayor’s Chosen Charities

Herts Young Homeless are an independent charity, formed in 1998, supporting vulnerable people in Hertfordshire. They provide a variety of free services open to all 16 – 24 year olds who are homeless or are threatened with homelessness.
The Jamie McVeigh Foundation was established by the family and friends of Jamie McVeigh who tragically died at just 19 years of age. The foundation aims to help young people who find themselves in difficult mental and financial circumstances, working under the motto “it’s okay to not be okay.”

Councillors and Council Staff in Attendance

The evening saw a wonderful turnout of Hatfield Town Council staff, joined by residents of Hatfield as well as local Councillor representatives; with outgoing Deputy Mayor Cllr Tristan Wiltshire and outgoing Deputy Leader of the Council Cllr Jackie Brennan amongst those councillors in attendance.

Raffle prizes galore

On the night we also held a raffle, featuring prizes donated to us by organisations from around Hatfield and beyond. Among the prizes up for grabs, our very own Funzone team offered another free session with them, we had a variety of hand-made gifts and photo frames donated, and The Odyssey cinema in St Albans reached out to us as part of their ongoing charity outreach initiative, offering a fabulous night out as their prize to the lucky winner.

Thank you to all who attended and made it such a successful evening!
