We’re very pleased to reveal that we have re-opened our brand new, refurbished Strength Boutique gym space within Birchwood Leisure Centre. Featuring all new easy to use equipment, the fully upgraded fitness centre has been fitted with a brand-new upright bike, row machine, cross trainer, press machine and more, helping to revamp the entire space and open a world of opportunity for the local community.
Attending the launch event, Councillor Jackie Brennan met with attendees of the Strength Boutique’s Teen Gym group, to tour the new facility and see first-hand the benefits that the upgrade offers to residents. Speaking to the YMCA’s Anthony Parris, who was leading a teen gym session at the event, Councillor Brennan commented “as Chair of the Planning, Environment and Policy Committee, I’m delighted to see Section 106 money being used to improve these facilities. Birchwood Leisure Centre is very much a community focused asset, and our objective is to make it accessible for the whole community.”
Councillor Brennan continued, “the regular Tuesday session designed specifically for Hatfield’s young women is just one example of how we are making access to sport and recreational facilities easier for Hatfield residents”.
Hatfield Town Council’s Health and Wellbeing Manager, Pav Medowski, spoke of his pride in the new space: “it’s becoming a common knowledge that exercise plays a huge role in making our body and mind healthy. This upgrade is the part of our promise to continue to provide our members with the best possible experience and to enhance the health and wellbeing of our community. Most importantly: our junior gym participants love it!”
